Somewhere...somehow...

There’s a smile hiding somewhere,
I just need to find it…
Sometimes it disguises
Itself as a little teardrop
that falls with a big splosh….
I chase after it on big red buses
and sometimes just about catch it
on the corners of little gift shops
or lovers’ lips kissing in bliss…

Sometimes it won’t come to me
no matter how hard I try….
perhaps I could find it in a friend
perhaps all I need to do is try…
Lingering over a glass of wine
raising my knees and resting my chin
I stare at the flickering candle
and somehow it slips through the chinks
when I am not even looking for it…!

Ahhh, dear Pincushion, I hear you. I spend my life chasing that teardrop, trying to catch it, understand it, and store it in a jar to prevent it from evaporating. The funny thing is, it always mixes again with the air, and falls lightly, or pours down as rain, so I can try to catch it again.

It's hard to say something nice about this one when EVERYONE has said it all! :) Just one question: how do you write such beautiful poetry? What triggers it? Do you think about the subject or does it grip you? What do you do?

Sorry, but these keep coming to my mind when I read your pieces...
